I chose the following ideals which I think will play a significant
part in my professional life.
I-1.1—To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training.
I have learnt from this course that professionals in the early childhood field or any field for that matter keep themselves informed of all the updates of their respective field in order for them to serve others better and also lead others in this field in the right path. I wish to be like them and be a professional when I pursue my passion. I understand by being so, I can contribute so much more to this field and the children.
I-1.3—To recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities, and potential of each child.
This will definitely become the mantra in my everyday life from now on. Although I knew this before but now it has become even more clearer and left a strong impact in me. I will always remind myself to look at each and every child the way they are and not compare them or expect them to fulfill my expectations.
I-1.5—To create and maintain safe and healthy settings that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and that respect their dignity and their contributions.
My goal is to open a sensory gym or preschool one day and I vow to myself that I will ensure that my preschool will definitely be that safe and healthy place to be for children. I will ensure that the programs, facilities and staffs will be working hand in hand to help each child to grow at their own pace, be happy and most of all, be respected.
